Intensive Care Units Nurses¡¯ Experience of Cardiac Arrest Patient Nursing

Abstract
Purpose: To explore the meaning and essences about intensive care units nurses¡¯ experiences of cardiac arrest patient nursing.

Methods: Colaizzi phenomenological methodology was applied to analyze data collected through in-depth interviews with 10 nurses between May and December, 2018.

Results: The analysis produced seven categories and fifteen theme clusters. The seven categories were: ¡®detect and urgently notify vital signs of an emergency¡¯, ¡®out of control myself because of my fault¡¯, ¡®concentrate on basic and advanced CPR¡¯, ¡®want to get out of the situation¡¯, ¡®enduring and joining forces with colleagues¡¯, ¡®life cannot be revived by human strength¡¯, ¡®increased coping capacity for cardiac arrest¡¯.

Conclusion: Before cardiac arrest occurred, nurses noticed that patients sent out various bodily signals. Teamwork is important in the process of performing basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Through cardiopulmonary resuscitation, coping capacity and situational judgment ability to care for cardiac arrest patients have increased.
